Leslie Brumleve Miss New Brockton Rodeo

Good morning everyone!  As you all know, this is the final day of the pageant!  Coronation is just a few hours away!  I am very excited and have had the best time out here competing.  No matter what happens today, I know it was all meant to be.  Being out here this week has been the time of my life.  I have met the best girls ever!  I know we will all be friends for a very long time.  Their friendship means the world to me.  That is one of the best things about being here- you meet people that touch your heart and hate for this experience to end because they have been there for you all week.  Another thing that I have learned from being out here is that each day is a new day.  You can't worry about what happened the day before.  All you can do is accept it and move on.  I am very thankful for our sponsors and everyone else that has supported me and all the other girls.  This has been a fabulous week!  Until we meet again- Happy Trails!

Kristin Scott Miss Limestone Sheriffs Rodeo

My journey started long before this week, but when I arrived at the Biltmore hotel in Oklahoma City I knew that I was in for an experience of my life. Through this whole week it has been late nights and early mornings. With all of this I have learned more about myself. I didn't give myself a whole lot of credit and maybe even some self doubt. I now know that if I set my mind to it I can accompished more. I have found out that I have mental and physical toughness that I never knew I had. I have met and made friendships that will last a lifetime. Forever I will have the memories that have been made this week. This program is a one of a kind and I encourage anyone who has thought about joining or if not as a competitor a associate member. I have had the best time and I hope I can continue this great experience. Thank You for this wonderful opportunity!

Lacey Lynn Glover, Miss United Rodeo Association 2007, Contestant #3

I am saddened and excited all at the same time.  The week is coming to a close, I do not want to leave my new friends, but at the same time I am very excited to find out the results.  I am leaving this pageant with new friends and a unforgettable memories.  I am excited about getting to sleep in my own bed again.  I am also excited about being able to see my dog and horses again.  I cannot wait to see which girl wins the crown.  I have gained a whole new appreciation for the Miss Rodeo USA volunteers, they spend endless hours helping us girls and being so patient.  I would love to come back and help with the pageant in future years, in any way that I can.  I would like to thank all of the sponsors who donated items and supported the pageant in other ways.  Thank you again to the judges, committee and volunteers who helped out make this week possible.

Day 6 - Miss Rodeo USA Pageant: Signature Sponsor, Ariat International

Day 6- And the winner is... I don't know! Today was one of, if not the best day in Miss Rodeo USA history!
I'll start with Horsemanship... First I would like to thank Pam and Ken Treadway and their staff of the Treadway Rodeo Co. They supplied the five horses for the ladies to ride. Thank you Pam and Ken!
The round went fine, each lady finished the pattern with little or no problem. Remember, these were not show horses, they were pick-up and rope horses.
What I want to talk about was what we did after lunch... along with 2006 World Champion Barrel Racer Mesa Leavitt, the ladies and some MRUSA staff were off to The Childrens Center (TCC) in Bethany, Okla. We were met by Scott Coppenbarger and his staff, along with News9 and a photographer from The Oklahoman.
This is an amazing facility that allows family members to stay with their children while they are being treated.
The first young man we met was Casey. Casey and his nurse were in one of the rehab gyms playing cards and "getting better". when the ladies walked into the room, Casey looked up, his eyes grew big and a great big smile grew on his face. While talking with Casey, he mentioned how much he liked the ladies hats. Lisa Lance let him wear her hat for what we thought was going to be for a few minutes, well, it turns out Casey liked the hat so much, Lisa let him keep it, this was the hat she wore while she was Miss Rodeo USA 1989.
This young man thought he hit the lottery... we all hit the lottery! And yes, there was a tear or two in my eyes...
Some of the ladies were in with a young lady from Arkansas named Nisa. Nisa had to stay in bed, but was in great spirits. She and the girls had a great time telling jokes and talking about being a queen. And like Casey, Nisa also got a presant... chaperone Karen Rosenthal gave her the MRUSA bling bling cap she was wearing.
We were taken to another room with a big group of children and their nurses... and Casey, who tracked us down, and let us in on a secret... He thinks Candice is "hot" and "sexy"! Candice read a short story to all the kids.
Plans are already in the works to do this again next year and to bring some of the children out to IFR39.
I have to say this... after today, anyone of the ten young ladies in the pageant can be Miss Rodeo USA 2008!
Parents, you should all be proud of your daughters, they were wonderful with the children.
Well, it is almost over. Until tomorrow.... goodnight.

Today was one of the most emotional day duing this pageant. We had the honor to visit the Children's center.

Leslie Brumleve Miss New Brockton Rodeo

Hello again everyone!  Today we went to visit The Children's Center at the Donald W. Reynolds Complex in Bethany, Oklahoma.  This was such a wonderful experience.  I have never had an opportunity to visit a place like this before.  We began in the newest part with our guide, Scott.  This is a place where the children typically stay for around 25 days for rehabilitation.  There was one boy, Casey, who stole everyone's heart.  He had never been to a rodeo before, but he wanted to be a cowboy.  He continued to stay with us throughout our tour.  We moved on to the next wing where children are kept for around two years.  These children were so special!  It really moved me to see how excited and active they became when we walked through the door.  Keep in mind, most of these children are unable to respond, but I'm sure that we touched them as much as they touched us.  In this wing, the children have rooms that have a window that looks out over a courtyard.  The facilities were wonderful and the employees were just as nice.  These are the kindest people who help out others in need.  It makes you stop to appreciate the smaller things in life.

Summer Davis Miss Pawnee Bill Memorial Rodeo Queen #2

Today, the contestants and I had the most amazing experience.  We had the opportunity to visit the most remarkable place in Oklahoma City...The children's center.  We had a great tour of the facility, where we met the most adorable kids from all over the country.  Lisa Watson Lance, Miss Rodeo USA 1989, gave her hat to the most appreciative little boy named Casey, who dreamed of being a cowboy.  At the end of the tour we gathered in a large room, filled with the faces of children who looked forward to the current Miss Rodeo USA, Candice Carper, reading a storybook to them.  All the girls and I were able to mingle among them, which filled all of our hearts with joy.  Each room had a large picture window that looked out into a beautifully landscaped courtyard, that had a pet rabbit named "Thumper," to keep the kids entertained.

This facility not only need financial support, but also need people who are willing to donate some of their time for volunteer work.  My platform this year, "Be a part, and Give your heart," encourages people to do just that, so that we can all have this life changing experience.

Lacey Lynn Glover, Miss United Rodeo Association 2007, Contestant #3

I had an absolute blast today at the Children's Center in Bethany.  It was a huge blessing to be able to visit with all of the children, therapists, and nurses.  I was honored to be able to be there and share with the kids.  However, I think the kids made me smile almost more than I made them smile.  I love visiting the children in that are in hospitals, because I was in their same spot 16 years ago.  I know first hand how exciting it is to have visitors come and share a smile and maybe chat for a little bit.  I want to thank the Children's Center for inviting us out to visit with the kids and thank them for the opportunity to be touch by these very special individuals.

Madelyn Hoggard Miss Brock Farms

Today we visited the children's center in Oklahoma city. This was a life changing experience. The Children's Center is a place where Kids go to get Rehabilitated instead of laying in a hospital bed all day. These children are here have play rooms and have a school house where they have school everyday. The Children's center is like a Minnie community for the kids that are there. These kids are so special and today they touched our lives just as we touched their's. We were so gracious to have experienced the look on those kids faces when we were there. We had a little boy that loved us so much that every where we went he followed us. He was so sweet and was in heaven while we were there. It was so special to see how we changed that little boys life. The kids at the Center touched our lives in so many ways, words can not explain it. The Children's Center is a non profit organization which the state and sponsors donate money to the Center to keep it running smoothly. This was a life changing experience for everyone, we will never forget.
